I was having a harried morning before a Feng Shui consultation today. Things were not moving along smoothly and there seemed to be a hiccup at every turn and it was only 8am! Having gone through my ritualistic preparation before leaving my home, I brought my attention to my immediate surroundings. Most Feng Shui practitioners know that a client’s consultation begins not when we arrive at your home or office but when we leave ours. By that I mean practitioners pay attention to the the things that occur (or don’t occur) on their voyage to your space. While I was walking to the subway with my “Feng Shui glasses” on, I suddenly saw a very beautiful image. Amidst the hustle and bustle of morning rush hour was a monk, yes a monk, dressed in a powdery grey traditional robe and she seemed to be just floating across the pavement. In her hands was a vase that held two delicate purple flowers. She was not looking around but had the most peaceful smile on her face and I could tell who she was smiling at – herself. She thoughtfully crossed the street, her Metropolitan Museum shoulder bag swinging by her side. Then she disappeared into the crowd.
That vignette changed the energy of my morning and gave me a sign that all will be auspicious with my client’s consultation. I told that story to about 6 people today so far and they have all responded with the same joy and happiness. I think the monk did what she set out to do today – being joy to others and the world.
