If you’ve been feeling unmotivated, overwhelmed, or like you’re constantly behind, it’s easy to jump to the usual conclusion — maybe I’m just lazy.
Especially in a big city like my hometown of NYC, where hustle is the baseline and productivity is the unspoken religion, that guilt can get loud fast. I know, because I lived in it for almost my whole life. I didn’t even notice, but I pushed through exhaustion, ignored the signals, and kept showing up — even when my body was clearly asking for something else.
Back then, I didn’t realize the issue wasn’t my ambition — it was my alignment. And now, with a little distance, I can see it clearly in the women I work with too.
Misalignment happens when you’ve grown, but your environment hasn’t. Maybe you’ve outgrown people-pleasing, or you’re no longer chasing the same goals, or you’ve started to take your needs seriously for the first time in years — but your life is still filled with reminders of the woman who said yes to everything and put herself last.
The desk that’s buried in other people’s paperwork. The closet full of clothes that no longer feel like you. When your space still reflects who you used to be, it becomes hard to step into who you’re trying to become — and it starts to feel like maybe you’re the problem, when really, it’s the environment that’s outdated.
And when I say “environment,” I’m not just talking about your home or apartment, although yes — your physical space is often the most obvious place to start.
Environment is also about the people you surround yourself with, the things you’ve said yes to out of obligation, the calendar that’s too full, the unanswered text messages, your inbox, the clothes in your closet, the piles you’ve been ignoring.
Your environment is the full ecosystem you live inside every day. And when that ecosystem is out of sync with your truth — when it reinforces the version of you that’s exhausted, overwhelmed, or just trying to keep up — it’s going to take a toll.
And let’s not forget… it’s summer! It’s hot out! 🙂 Of course part of you wants to slow down. Of course your body is craving rest, sunshine, freedom, or maybe just a little more space to be. This time of year invites us to exhale — but if your environment doesn’t support that exhale, it can feel like a fight just to enjoy your own life.
Next week, I’m walking that truth in a very personal way.
I’m heading off on part ONE of my European vacation (even saying that makes me alittle nervous lol) — meeting up with the amazing women (and one awesome dude 😉) from my retreat in Malta — and this time, I’m not bringing guilt with me.
I used to feel bad for slowing down. I’d worry about what I wasn’t doing, who I might disappoint, and whether rest was really “productive.”
But I’ve come to understand that alignment isn’t something you achieve by doing more. And you sure as heck aren’t going to get there through overworking. Alignment starts when you choose to create a life that actually supports your energy.
So if you’ve been feeling like you just can’t get it together right now, please know this: you’re not broken. You don’t need another hack or habit or planner. You need an environment that reminds you who you are — and who you’re becoming.
And if you don’t know where to start, I can help. Feng Shui is one of the lenses I use to help women reconnect with their energy, reclaim clarity, and create environments that support their next level — not the version of them they’ve outgrown.
You’re not lazy. You may just need to slow down — and let your space catch up with your soul.
TIP: If you’re not sure where to begin, here’s a simple place to start: take one thing off your calendar this week. Cross it out, reschedule it, or just let it go. Feel your shoulders relax in the no. Notice what opens up in its place. Alignment isn’t about doing more — it’s about doing what actually feels right. And sometimes, alignment starts with reclaiming your time, your energy, and your permission to stop proving and start living.
If you’re craving clarity, movement, and a space that supports the next level of who you are — reach out. I’m in the early stages of welcoming a few women into this next season of my work. If something here speaks to you, hit reply. I’d love to connect. Happy guilt-free-summer-loving-slow-down! Muah!
