I’m in love with yoga. After an ashtanga yoga class the other day, I marveled at how amazing and strong I felt. Pretty incredible considering a few hours earlier I was feeling in need of a fitness jolt but too tired to pursue it. Luckily I was able to conjure up past images of how good I felt after a class and used that to muster the last of my courageous energies to head over to yoga.

I am by no means a yoga-holic. I maybe get to yoga once a week. And it’s at my gym. But when I do get there, my teacher of choice is Jen because of who she is. She tells us to thank ourselves for making it to class and allotting that time to ourselves. She asks us to dedicate the day’s practice to someone or something and calls our attention to our dedication throughout the class. Judgement is left at the door as she gently reminds us that we are already perfect where we are today and that is why it’s called a yoga practice and a yoga perfect. She ends with tingsha bells and an inspirational and moving quote. Sigh. Isn’t it easier to be in the present moment and enjoy that moment when you’re not busying up the mind with judgement and comparisons?

Combining yoga with my Feng Shui practice has been a winning combination for me. This formula improves my focus, mood and overall quality of life. Top that with a little bowl of ice cream every now and again and life becomes well…perfect, if just for a moment.

Take a second to think about it. What things can you add to your daily life that can improve your mood and energy when you need it most?
