Chinese New Year is early this year, beginning this Saturday, Jan 25th and is the year of the Metal Rat. Since the Rat in Chinese Astrology is the first animal of the 12 animal zodiac cycle, our thoughts and actions this year must be very intentional since it’s setting the tone for the next 12 years.
Don’t panic!
It’s important to understand the characteristics of the Metal Rat since in Feng Shui, harmony and abundance is all about alignment. When we are not aligned, energy can get stuck or move so quickly that we are not able to reap the benefits. Therefore, understanding our friend the Metal Rat will help us align our actions this year to optimize opportunities and good energy.
Metal is one of the five elements in Chinese Metaphysics (Wood, Fire, Metal, Water, Earth) and it symbolizes the Autumn season and Harvest. This means that the seeds we have planted these past years are ready to be harvested. Those of us who have been working our butts off – you know who you are – will have huge payoffs both financially and in fame/recognition. It’s promotion time if you’ve done the work. If you’re independent, get ready for mega-followers!
On the other hand, if you’ve been slacking a bit (no-judgment), this is a good year to get yourself back on track. Rats PLAN AHEAD. So be sure that you know your WHYs in life. Once you know your whys, carefully plan out your year to get you where you want to go. Look at the big picture and also see how your actions will impact those closest to you. Remember it’s the start of a new 12 year cycle so what you do this year will impact your next 12 years.
Rats are intelligent and versatile, Survivors (enter Destiny’s Child tune here). They love challenges but not impossible ones so make sure you know your limitations. Review past challenges and know what your motivation is for doing certain things. Don’t overextend yourself.
FINANCES
Rats are good at saving so save your money this year! If you don’t have one, it’s time to create a budget and stay on track. Finances may fluctuate this year so be cautious and don’t overspend recklessly.
HOME
That said, with the optimistic energy of the Rat, it may be a good year to move. Either change homes, travel to other locations, or even work overseas. If you have the opportunity, seize it! Although a solitary animal, rats love activity and being with people. Reach out to friends and family or make new friends who can help you feel empowered and get the support you need when you need it most.
HEALTH
Go outdoors and stay active! Don’t participate in extreme activities but take the time to travel with family and friends outdoors and have fun!
Remember, take time to prepare for this year since it’s an important one. You’ll be pushed out of your comfort zone but if you are ready for it, nothing is impossible this year.
