There is Still Time to Prep for the Rat Year

January 24, 2020

Tomorrow is the day!

Let me tell you what you can do today and tomorrow, in under 15 minutes. I get it, we are busy! But we still need to be sure we do alittle sumthin’ sumthin’ to welcome in our buddy the Rat!

Since it’s the eve of the New Year and it’s Friday, and you’re probably at work, so let’s make this simple.

If you have 5 minutes, clean your kitchen – Wipe off counters, take out the garbage, dust bust the floors. Make sure it smells good and sparkles! Abundance lives in your kitchen, so if you only have a few minutes, focus your energy here!

If you have 15 minutes, clean your kitchen and wash your hair! On Chinese New Year, folks refrain from hair washing since it’s believed that good fortune can be washed out on New Year! If you’re like me and have a hard time going without a wash, wash your hair tonight and spritz with water tomorrow. Tada! Insta-fresh for the Rat!

If you have 15+ minutes, clean your whole house, making sure to clean under beds, desks and tables where energy can get stagnant. Then light some sage or a candle, set your intention to say goodbye to the Pig Year. Even if it was rough (which is was for many), be sure to state what you are grateful for in the Pig Year. Don’t burn bridges!

Tomorrow, on the first day of the Rat Year, if you can, enjoy and relax! Have fun plans with friends and family and eat long noodles (long life), dumplings or anything resembling a dumpling (empanandas anyone?) since they symbolize money bags! and be sure to finish with something sweet to add a nice sweet tone to your year.

If you have to work, be sure that you have fun and set the intention to say hello to the Rat with a happy smile!
