Get your gear on for the Chinese New Year! photo: horsebreedinfo.com

It’s that time of year again and we’ll be prepping for the Year of the Wood Horse. Chinese New Year falls on January 31st and it promises to be a very active year. Think about what you know about horses in general – strong, fast moving animals with unbounding energy. Now imagine that in your life for 2014! Are you ready?

Here are 3 tips to help you get in gear for the unbridled horse:

  1. Clean your home – Traditional Chinese folks strongly suggest cleaning your home to prepare. Clean out the old to bring in the new!
  2. Work on your flexibility – No, not your old school gymnastic splits. The horse year promises to be a very active one with some up and down bumps just like on the saddle. It’s time to not sweat the small stuff. The more flexible you are, the easier the ride will be.
  3. Practice quiet time – It seems counter-intuitive in such an active year but if you think about it, when it’s crazy out there, you need calm in here. If you have a meditation practice, see what you can do to step it up a notch. Even just practicing focused breathing would help greatly. Be sure to have that coping mechanism in your pocket that you can pull out at a moment’s notice when you need it most.

Let me know how you plan to prep for the Chinese New Year. Yeehaw!
