We would never let him walk alone, so why should you? image: data1.whicdn.com

The other day I was waiting for the train and noticed a child aimlessly roaming around. Where were his parents?? I saw what might be a parent, but that person was in full distraction mode. Instantly I felt myself become hyper aware of the child, keeping my laser focus on him. Kinda like Professor X.

I didn’t judge. I was so focused on his well-being that nothing else mattered.

The best part was when I became aware of my surroundings, I noticed that everyone else was incredibly focused on him too. Their “guardian” mode was ON. Without words, we all became “momentary parents” on that subway platform. Nodding and smiling at each other once the child was under his parent’s scope again.

Total strangers united as ONE in that moment.

It made me realize that in this whole big world filled with actions and distractions, at our core and in our essence, we are all united. We all want the same things.

We all want want to feel like we’re a part of something bigger.

I couldn’t have asked for a better time for this reminder as I am full blown into the second week of my cleanse.

This mid-way part of my cleanse has been challenging. I get all Pavlovian when I see a latte and have been counting down days to my flaky almond croissant. But I keep moving forward.

What gets me through it all? My backup. My team of eternal cheerleaders. Reminding me that I can get there, that I’m awesome, and that just at the end of the tunnel, there’s a delicious cup of hot cocoa with my name on it!

What’s that got to do with you?

We’re all in this together.

I want you to sit and think about who your backup team is. Who you can count on anytime, day or night. Phone calls or in-person, doesn’t matter.

Who are the people who you can reach out to when you’re on that rollercoaster and don’t know how to get the heck off?

If you need some help in that department, focus on your Benefactors / Helpful People area in your space. How’s that looking? If it’s a little sparse, add a healthy plant in there and make sure it’s well lit. If the area is cluttered with things that are of no use, really focus on what you love, what items are helpful to you and release the rest.

Get that area of your space in tip-top shape so you can start feeling like you can face whatevs comes your way. Once you’re all done, celebrate privately with a little dance (that’s the 70s dancing queen coming out in me but you can do what feels natural to you) and then celebrate again with your backup team. Now do the same for your back up. Rinse and repeat.

Doesn’t it feel great knowing that you can make it through anything, even three weeks worth of cleansing? You’re a Rockstar.

Stay tuned for the home stretch of the cleanse next week!
