Yay it’s summer and hope you are soaking in every ounce of fun and sun!

In a few weeks though, we will be thinking about the Fall. I know, sorry. But I’ve always been someone who prefers to be ahead of the curve versus behind.

Since it’s soon the beginning of the school year, I am going to share some Feng Shui tips for a space that’s super close to our hearts: a kid’s bedroom.

This isn’t just a place for our little ones to sleep – it’s where dreams come alive, adventures happen and little minds grow. No matter the size of the room, using Feng Shui, we can turn this special space into a magical mix of creativity and calm.

No need to shed your chill summer vibe just yet! Read them today and you can start implementing in a couple of weeks. Think of it as just switching up your beach reading!

IMPORTANT: Even if you don’t have kids or you’re an empty nester, these Feng Shui tips apply even to us, the big kids! Remember, we all continue to grow and thrive, no matter what our age.

Here are your 5 easy and fun tips to Feng Shui a child’s bedroom.

1. Keep the room creative, yet serene

Kids need spaces that spark their imagination but also help them wind down. Nobody wants a kid who is bouncing off the walls. No fun for you or them! So it’s about finding that sweet spot.

  • Color: Think soft pastels like light blue, green, and lavender for a chill vibe. Add some bright pops of color with their favorite toys, art or bedding to keep things lively.
  • Fun decor: you’re going to love me because you know when they come home with all their artwork? Showcase their artwork somewhere in their room to make them feel proud. Choose the calmer Picassos as anything too wild that might not allow their energy to wind down at the end of the day.
  • Add some plants: Plants bring nature indoors and can be both fun and calming. Easy ones like succulents or spider plants are perfect.

2. Bed placement for sweet dreams

Make sure that their bed is the star of the show. Where you place their bed can really affect how well your child sleeps.

  • Command Position: Can you tell I’m a fan of the CP? Place their bed so they can see the door while lying in it, but not directly in line with the door. This makes them feel safe and in control.
  • Headboard: Make sure the bed has a solid headboard. It gives a sense of stability and support.
  • Chi Flow: Keep the space under their bed as clear as possible as it helps the energy flow and promotes better sleep.

3. Declutter and organize for clear little minds

A tidy room equals a tidy mind. Helping your kid keep their room neat can make a big difference. I know it’s not easy but in my experience, teamwork helps!

  • Storage: Use fun bins, shelves and baskets to keep toys, books and clothes in order. Label them to make tidying up easier. I love this label maker.
  • Simplicity: Select to keep only what’s truly loved and used. This teaches kids the joy of simplicity and makes cleaning up easier. Baby Kondo.
  • Daily habits: Encourage a quick tidy-up routine each day. It builds good habits, good energy flow and keeps the room feeling chi-licious!

4. Add symbols of growth and learning

A kid’s room should inspire them to grow and learn, like little bamboo plants 🙂 Fill their room with things that spark curiosity and personal development.

  • Learning corner: Create a cozy reading nook with books, a comfy chair and some fun cushions to make it inviting.
  • Interactive elements: Add a globe, a map or a bulletin board for pinning up cool pictures, achievements and goals. Spark curiosity and learning.
  • Positive vibes: Decorate with framed affirmations or positive quotes to give them a daily boost of confidence and happiness. Let them choose them!

5. Balance the 5 Elements

In Feng Shui, balancing the 5 elements (wood, fire, earth, metal, and water) creates harmony in a room.

  • Wood: Use wooden furniture or decor for growth and vitality. Think desks or bookshelves.
  • Fire: Add small touches of red or a little lamp to bring energy, but don’t go overboard.
  • Earth: Earthy tones and crystals ground the room. A rug in earth colors or some smooth stones work great.
  • Metal: Items like a small wind chime add clarity and focus and I especially like picture frames of a parent or loved one that promotes a feeling of closeness and safety.
  • Water: A small water feature, blue decor or a picture of the sea can bring a calming vibe.

With these 5 fun and easy Feng Shui tips, you can turn your child’s bedroom into a perfect blend of creativity and calm – a true sanctuary where they can thrive.

Happy decorating, and may your little one’s room be filled with joy, love, and harmony!
