Did you know that you can tell how much a woman trusts herself by walking into her living room? And it’s not about how expensive her things are or how Instagram-relevant it is. A powerful space is about how settled it feels.
I know this because I see people’s spaces almost every day and I’m able to see what others don’t see. I decode environments – happily, as that’s my job and also my obsession 🙂
When I walk into a space, when my Feng Shui glasses are on, I’m not judging taste. I’m picking up cues about how this woman feels about herself. Does she know what she wants? Is she grounded? Is she a visionary? Is there forward movement? Yes, I can see all of that in a space.
Because a powerful woman do not decorate for other people’s approval or validation. There is one audience: herself. She knows she lives there and that her environment better make her feel damn good. Again, this is not about style – minimalist, maximalist, colorful or all-white interiors. It’s not about budget either.
What I usually witness is a powerful woman absolutely owning her space. She fills it with the things she loves – statement pieces, inherited art, objects collected from travel, bold choices and maybe something unexpected. But nothing is accidental and every piece is intentional. That’s what I call ownership and that’s where the power lives.
And no, she doesn’t always live alone. Many powerful women share their homes with partners, children, family. But rest assured, there is always a corner, chair, desk, a room that feels distinctly HERS. There is at least one area that is clearly claimed, curated and sacred that is hers. You can always feel where a powerful woman’s energy lives.
So look around your space: how do you feel in it? If you are feeling “not there yet,” not to worry. Your environment is always evolving around you and reflecting where you are in life. Your space is your life’s energetic story told with physical objects.
You may be making the mistake of thinking that you must wait until you feel fully confident, successful or established before allowing your space to reflect that version of you. But the truth is the opposite.
As I look at my own apartment right now, I see evolution in real time. It is not “finished.” It is not designer-level in the Architectural Digest sense. But every passing day, it’s becoming more me – more edited, intentional and on purpose. Every decision I make and change I take feels powerful because it reflects me.
As we move through this Fire Horse year, which is already amplifying visibility and momentum, you will know you are a powerful woman not because you are chasing speed, but because you are creating intentional environments that nurture you.
If you walk into your home tonight and something feels unsettled, unfinished, anxiety-provoking, don’t panic.
Just listen to what the story your space is telling you. It’s not a design problem, but your space giving you an invitation to play, to align it with the woman you are becoming. And if you are working toward your personal empowerment, I encourage you to accept that invitation.
