Is it as hard for you as it is for me to take time off?

I’m back from 5 weeks away from my newsletter and blog writing duties. I was travelling for work, taking personal time off to go to the US Open as well as visiting family.

Even though I am surrounded daily by a slower paced Parisian rhythm, the NYC hustler in me can’t stop muscling her way in. But not thinking about work and you guys was at times a struggle. As I love what I do for a living and it’s woven into every fiber of my being, taking time off is sometimes too negotiable.

And now, here we are, back to the New, New Year that I declared last Fall. You are hopefully rested after your Summer break and ready to take on your To-Do list. But before you do, let me tell you this little secret.

I’m not hyped to get back to writing a weekly blog and newsletter. For the past 5 weeks, I really loved not having the pressure of writing a weekly blog since a lot of love and brain power goes into producing it every week. So I’m checking in with my energy and rethinking things. And here’s what I’ve come up with.

I will keep sending you juicy Feng Shui Fridays. But now, only every other Friday. I’ll keep the Style and Energy Journal coming to you every 6 weeks so that you get deeper into this Feng Shui brain and how I see the world through a Feng Shui lens.

I know, I know, it’s really hard to scale back, but sometimes you have to.

We talk so much about starting fresh in the Fall, making new goals and getting back into your routines. But maybe starting again doesn’t always mean adding something new. Sometimes stepping away gives you enough distance to see what you don’t actually want to bring back. Like writing a weekly blog and newsletter.

I noticed that the energy I took back gave me more energy to finish open loops in my life, as well as gave me more time to dream about other big projects coming to you soon.

So how about you, what’s on your To-Do list for the Fall and does every item need to be on the list?

Remember what I said in Feb at the beginning of the Year of the Horse: I suggest focusing on just 2 priorities during this intense and fiery year. Preferably one personal and one professional.

What did you do with that suggestion?

And maybe the better question for the New, New Year isn’t what else do you want to do? Maybe it’s what can you take off your list so you actually have the energy for the two things that matter most?

See you in a couple of weeks!
